The Met School, Providence, RI

The Met is a network of six small, public high schools located in Providence and Newport, Rhode Island. With high standards and strong family engagement, The Met empowers its students to take charge of their learning, to become responsible citizens and life-long learners.

On March 1st, 2010, President Obama and Secretary Duncan joined General Colin Powell for the announcement of Grad Nation — a 10-year campaign to mobilize America to reverse the dropout crisis and help Americas our children be prepared for success in college, work and life. During his speech, Obama singled out the Met Center in Rhode Island as an institution that offers the kind of individual instruction to students that will be used in the new program that he unveiled.
